LEYC Training Centre
Lough Erne Yacht Club became a Training Centre (previously known as a Recognised Teaching Establishment) in the 1980's.Sailing courses are provided on an annual basis - an adult course and two or three junior courses per year, with power boat courses provided as required.
The training centre is staffed by qualified club memers who have gone on RYA Instructor Training Courses. This training and equipment is provided by the club. A fee is charged to course participants. Young instructors not in employment are paid.
It is useful that LEYC, a Volvo Champion Club, is also a Training Centre. It is not a condition of being a VCC, but it does mean that a regular supply of sail trained young people who are offered the opportunity to take part in the race training.
