The Netherlands J/24 Class have circulated a newsletter with plans for the J/24 European Championship in June 2010. The 2011 event is in Ireland.
The Dutch J/24 Newsletter is available on this website as a download.
This European J/24 Championship is in early June and hosted by the Dutch J/24 Class at a very attractive venue ashore and afloat. It is not unlikely that some Irish crews will compete, including from LEYC if only as preparation for 2011 when this European J/24 event will be Ireland, at Howth YC. When the European event was in Ireland last time, in 2002, the entire active Lough Erne fleet, then six boats, took part and found it a magnificent and unique big fleet experience. One also that gave a surge of growth in the Erne fleet, including two brand new boats from Italy, Murder Picture and Jigalo that went on to compete among top contenders at the 2005 World event in Weymouth. Indeed Jigalo won with owner Tim in her crew, the only LEYC member in any fleet ever to come home with a World Championship prize.
More information from Robin Eagleson, President of the J/24 Association of Ireland. Robin is an LEYC member and has won LEYC Regattas with his crew in Luder Too. His motor cruiser, October Dream is based in our Marina.
