Here pictured is a plentiful party of pulchritudinous pampered ladies with Mary Anne Sutton on an afternoon social occasion last year.

As this year starts, good to see that two of the three Flag Officers elected at the AGM on a January afternoon were women, Mary Anne and Mae Burke.
Likewise Katrina McGirr, winner of the 2009 Foxrock Cup became 2010’s new J/24 Fleet Captain. Katrina’s Foxrock and Cowes adventures were reported in December on LEYC website news.
Evelyn Ghareeb continued as Laser and Topper Fleet Captain. Her 2009 report had Jennifer Whittaker’s Topper successes and selection for the RYA Youth Laser Squad – also reported here at that time during the season.
Women were elected full members of LEYC about 115 years ago. Then they raced in Colleen class keelboats, similar to today’s Yeoman keelboats in which today Mary Anne, front right crews with Declan Dooley. Also in the picture, Phyllis, front left, is uxorial crew to another top Yeoman, Bertie Forsythe.
Trudy Mannnion, back centre, chaired the AGM ten years ago as Commodore. In the decade or so previous, Trudy took her Jamais crew to a J/24 World Championship in Annapolis USA, helmed a big boat under sail the length of the Levkas canal on the west coast of Greece, and ran that crowded Dublin 18 house for homeless LEYC crew at the 1990 Worlds whence came the Foxrock Cup. Carol Elliott, centre, is another J/24 sailor, most keen on picnic-cruising.
There's beauty and a lot more in and about this simple happy picture.
