The Yeoman and J24 Class have experienced a full month of sailing interrupted slightly by excess winds on occasion particularly for the Yeoman fleet. The results for each fleet are available under the Fleet Section.
Sailing Results on Lough Erne 27 July 2010
The fifth series of the J24 fleet has been extremely successful with eight boats and approximately 40 sailors competing over the six race series. The final two races took place on the 27 July in lightening winds with the fleet competing in one two leg race and in a shortened second race to avoid becoming becalmed on the lake. The leader over the series, Jet helmed by M Mc Caldin retained first place in the two races while three boats shared second place, Skipjack helmed by J Kane, Jorvik helmed by B Gallagher and Jigalo helmed by T Rippey. The completion of the series confirmed Jet as the overall winner with Skipjack in second. Up until the last two races Mejoolie helmed by B Humphreys held overall third; missing the last two races moved Mejoolie to fifth place while Jorvik helmed by B Gallagher and Jigalo helmed by T Rippey took third and fourth respectively. 6th, 7th and 8th places were allocated to Jeriatrix helmed by R Eagleson, Jade helmed by S Mc Cosker and Jasper helmed by J Mulholland. The final series of Tuesday night races will take place from the 3rd August over four weeks to take account of the shorter evenings. On the weekend of 7/8th August, the LEYC will welcome approximately 16 boats to Lough Erne for the J24 Northern Championships.
The 5th and 6th races in the Yeoman Saturday Series in which four boats competed resulted in each boat finishing in the same position in both races. Honeybee helmed by D Dooley, Crista helmed by B Forsyth, Lady Rose helmed by R Morrison and Ray helmed by D Mc Carthy placed in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively. There are a further two races in the series on the 31st July with the field currently being lead by Crista and joint second Lady Rose and Honey Bee. The Yeoman Sunday Series came to a conclusion on Sunday 25th July after 6 races. The weather did impact the number completing the final Sunday race. However the fleet was lead throughout by Crista and Lady Rose with the final 1st result going to Crista and Lady Rose taking 2nd place. The remaining seven places were taken by Blue Diamond helmed by J Mc Crea, Thief of Time helmed by Alex Knowles, Honeybee helmed by D Dooley, Dipper helmed by J Kelly, Nelly Kelly helmed by R Ritchie, Raj helmed by D Mc Carthy and Growler helmed by R Smith.
